The prestigious award, conferred by The Law Society of Singapore, recognises practising lawyers who have demonstrated exemplary achievement and excellence in a particular area of practice. Dorothy received the award at the Law Society Annual Dinner on Friday, 24 October 2025, at The Fullerton Hotel.
The Practice Excellence Award is considered one of the highest forms of peer recognition in Singapore’s legal profession, highlighting exceptional commitment, integrity, and superior client service.
Selection and Criteria
The Law Society’s inaugural Practice Excellence Awards 2025 showcase the best of the Singapore legal profession by recognising practising lawyers who have achieved excellence in 14 practice areas, including:

The nominees are assessed based on four criteria, namely, technical legal ability, service with the Society, reputation and character, as well as peer recognition and professional achievements.

About Dorothy Tan
Dorothy’s work spans the full spectrum of family law – from amicable resolutions to complex, high-stakes matters – and includes successful appearances before the Family Court, High Court, and Court of Appeal. Her practice is known for clear strategy, careful preparation, and calm, client-centred advocacy.

The Law Society’s Practice Excellence Awards are conferred at the Society’s sole discretion to practising lawyers who demonstrate excellence in a particular area of practice. Nominees must be practising members holding a valid practising certificate and with at least 10 years in practice.
