PKWA Law Successfully Acts for Husband in High Court, Secures 72.5% of Matrimonial Assets

Case Name: XIK v XIL [2025] SGHCF 16

PKWA Law recently represented the Husband in a complex divorce case in the High Court (XIK v XIL [2025] SGHCF 16) involving the division of matrimonial assets, maintenance, and other contested issues. The Court accepted many of our submissions and made several key findings in our client’s favour.

Division of Matrimonial Assets

The Court ordered that the Husband retain 72.5% of the matrimonial pool of assets. The Court accepted our argument that the Wife should be awarded a percentage in the lower range of 25% to 35% for a mid-length, single-income marriage, ultimately granting her 27.5%.

Adverse Inference Not Drawn

The Wife had sought to have an adverse inference drawn against the Husband, but the Court found in our favour that there was no basis to do so.

Division of Shares in Kind

One of the key issues in the case involved the Husband’s shares in a private company. While the Wife proposed a fixed monetary payout, we submitted that a division in kind was more appropriate due to the illiquid nature of the shares. The Court agreed and ordered the shares to be divided in kind, allowing both parties to share in any future fluctuations in value.

Maintenance Orders

The Court also made maintenance orders for both the children and the Wife. The amounts awarded were more closely aligned with our proposals and reflected a fair and balanced assessment of the parties’ financial circumstances.
