Jin Liang has extensive experience as lead counsel in family law, covering divorce, financial relief, personal protection orders, interim maintenance, and care and control applications. His work regularly involves multi-million-dollar asset divisions and complex child custody disputes.
Jin Liang’s expertise lies in handling divorce and family cases with complex financial issues, including the division of assets. He has acted as lead counsel in numerous highly contentious divorce proceedings in both the Family Court and High Court, dealing with disputes over the division of matrimonial assets, custody, care, and control of children. He also provides advice on prenuptial agreements and cross-border family issues, including family violence, relocation, international child abduction, and stay of proceedings.
Jin Liang graduated with Second Upper Honours from King’s College London. After being called to the Singapore Bar, he initially worked as a banking and finance lawyer at one of Singapore’s largest firms before pursuing his childhood dream of becoming a family lawyer.
WTL v WTM and another appeal – [2024] SGHCF 40
Jin Liang successfully secured care and control of the children for the Wife and obtained a substantial uplift in asset division after the High Court penalised the Husband for non-disclosure of wealth. The Court also clarified the treatment of renovation costs, monthly allowances, and adverse inferences in asset division.

WYA v WYB – [2024] SGFC 37
Acted for the Husband in a high-value matrimonial dispute involving division of family wealth and allegations of dissipation and concealment of assets intermingled with private companies. The Wife sought wide-ranging discovery and interrogatories. The Court undertook a detailed analysis of disclosure obligations in family proceedings and the threshold for obtaining company documents. The case clarified the boundaries of maintaining the corporate veil versus disclosure in ancillary matters and safeguarded legitimate business operations.
VYJ v VYK – [2021] SGFC 125
Jin Liang successfully acted for his client in a cross-border divorce involving hidden assets across more than four jurisdictions. He achieved the total dismissal of a Prenuptial Agreement relied on by the Husband, successfully defended an appeal before the High Court, and defeated the Husband’s application for leave to appeal to the Appellate Division / Court of Appeal. This landmark case underscored expertise in cross-border matrimonial disputes and complex financial litigation, including tracing of hidden global assets.
