Associate Director

Mathea is an associate director at PKWA Law. Since being called to the Bar, Mathea has worked exclusively in family law. Her areas of expertise include child custody cases and cases relating to the division on matrimonial assets. She has further advised on complex high-net-worth cases involving the division of assets and maintenance, as well as intricate child-related disputes.

Mathea is the lead lawyer in a case that was reported extensively in the media: "Court orders man to pay son's preschool fees to ex-wife”. She successfully acted for the ex-wife in a case where the ex-husband had refused to pay the school fees.

Mathea has been awarded the following scholarships and awards:

  • Distinction for Part B Family Law Course 2019.
  • LexisNexis Family Law Prize December 2018 – awarded to the top student in Family Law (NUS Law).
  • Wee Chong Jin Scholarship in Law (Academic Year 2018-2019).
  • NUS Law Dean’s List (Academic Year 2015-2016).

While in law school, Mathea was also a founding director of the Student Disciplinary Assistance Scheme, where she provided guidance to students facing proceedings before the Board of Discipline and Disciplinary Appeals Board.

Prior to joining PKWA Law, Mathea trained at one of Singapore’s top law firms, and worked there as a lawyer.  Her passion lies in helping individuals who may be experiencing the lowest points in their lives, and she is prized for her ability to think innovatively in finding practical solutions for clients. Through her meticulous attention to detail and passionate advocacy, she enables clients to better understand their legal position, thus empowering them to make well-informed decisions throughout the divorce process. She is a firm believer in therapeutic justice, and advocates for the amicable resolution of disputes via mediation where possible.
