Melvin Wong holds a Master of Laws (IP & Technology Law) from the National University of Singapore and a Bachelor of Laws from Queen Mary University of London. His areas of practice include family law, civil litigation, probate and mental capacity matters.
Melvin advises clients on a broad range of family and matrimonial matters, including contested and uncontested divorces, ancillary proceedings, probate disputes and applications under the Mental Capacity Act.
He has assisted in complex matrimonial proceedings involving substantial disputes over the division of matrimonial assets, including a case in which the wife was awarded 63% of the matrimonial assets despite having made no direct financial contributions towards their acquisition. In addition to his family law practice, Melvin has experience in civil litigation involving contractual and debt recovery claims. He has also acted in interlocutory applications in matrimonial proceedings, including successfully obtaining an order for dispensation of service at the first hearing.
Outside of practice, Melvin is actively involved in grassroots and community work. He serves as a member of the Citizens’ Consultative Committee in Eunos, Vice-Chairman of Young PAP at the PAP Eunos Branch, and coordinates legal clinic initiatives at the Eunos Community Centre.
