Andrew Chen graduated with First Class Honours in Law from the University of Bristol and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2023.

Experience

Andrew is involved in complex family law and litigation matters, combining a family law practice with a strong background in commercial litigation, international arbitration and mergers and acquisitions. His commercial experience is particularly valuable in family law matters involving businesses, shareholdings, trust interests and overseas assets, where resolving the dispute requires both family law and commercial expertise.

In his family law practice, Andrew advises clients on contested and uncontested divorces, the division of matrimonial assets, child custody, care and control, access, maintenance and cross-border family law matters. He also advises on pre-nuptial agreements, deeds of separation, wills and lasting powers of attorney.

In his litigation and commercial practice, Andrew acts for clients in domestic and international arbitration and general commercial disputes, and advises them on corporate advisory matters.

He also handles a broad range of general litigation disputes, including Protection from Harassment Act (POHA) matters, and contentious will and probate disputes.

Before joining PKWA Law, Andrew trained and practised at a Singapore “Big Four” law firm, where he worked in both its Corporate & Commercial Disputes and Mergers & Acquisitions practices.

Andrew’s litigation experience includes SIAC and ICC arbitrations, including one that resulted in an award of damages exceeding US$150 million and another arising from the proposed S$3.8 billion acquisition of an SGX-listed company. He has also acted in High Court proceedings involving shareholder disputes, joint venture disputes, confidential information and technology-related claims.

Andrew has also advised on significant corporate transactions, including Blackstone’s A$24 billion acquisition of AirTrunk, City Developments Limited’s disposal of its interest in the South Beach mixed-use development based on an agreed property value of approximately S$2.75 billion, the sale of a majority stake in a Singapore education company for over S$70 million, and the sale of Avtel Holdings Pte. Ltd. to SECOM Co., Ltd.
